Iced In!

We are iced-in here in North Texas! The high yesterday was about 34ºF at 8 AM, and the temp steadily dropped from there. Then the rain started. Or I should call it frozen rain. Little tiny spheres of ice fell, occasionally mixed with sleet. That went on all night. We've got about 2-3" of accumulation of nothing but ice outside. School is cancelled, and I haven't seen a single car go by the house today, and it's nearly 10 AM!

The kids got out to play in it early this morning. My son, armed with a hammer, commenced to breaking apart interesting ice structures. Then he had a pocket microscope he used to inspect the ice crystal shapes and cracks he'd formed. I stopped him from baning on my metal BBQ pit with the hammer. I told DH about it, and he laughed and said "aw, he's just a boy." I told him I was glad he understands because then he wouldn't mind that our son was baning on the gel-coat of his beloved bass boat. He suddenly decided to get up and go outside to supervise the destruction.
