I think Spring has sprung

There are Bradford Pear trees all over up here. Apparently they tolerating the dry climate well, since we gt only occasional rains. Most front yards will have at least one of them, and I have one in my side yard, just outside the kitchen window.

Now they are blooming. We've been seeing the fuzzy buds on them, and now the Bradford Pear trees have little white "bouquets" of flowers on them, so leaves can't be far behind. I just love Spring. I never paid much attention to it when I was younger, I guess because school or work still tromped on as usual. But now I notice the little things, like the flower bloom of a fresh weed in my grass! Or new leaf growth on the crepe myrtles. It's neat to see.

I want to get some day lilies in my front and side beds this year. I'm sick of the plain old boxwoods we have now. They are boring. I'm ready for some color that I don't have to replant every season, and day lilies fit the bill perfectly.

We slept with the windows open last night. It's so nice to be able to "air out" the house! I really think I sleep more soundly when there is fresh, outdoor air drifting inside. Plus, it's like getting free air conditioning!
