Red Beans & Rice

(I will get back to my cruise details. Just wanted to take an aside here for a moment to talk about food!)

Tonight I'm making a pitifully easy supper. 3 cans of Glory Red Beans, some sausage links chopped up and tossed in, a pot of rice, a can of Glory Okra & Tomatoes on the side, and some cornbread in the oven. I wanted to give a report. The beans were truly already seasoned. All I added as they are simmering w/ the sausage was a bay leaf, and about half a can of hot water. The okra and tomatoes is a reduced sodium version and actually tasted pretty good as-is, but I added a couple dashes of Tony Chachere's to be sure. So now the house smells like wash day in South Louisiana, and I must say, I can't wait to tie into this supper. DH had asked for RB&R last week and with his work and OOT schedule, tonight was the first night I could do it.

If you have not yet, you have GOT to try Glory brand of canned veggies! I've discovered that a couple grocery stores here only carry one or two items with the canned goods. The majority of Glory's line are located in the "ethnic food aisle". So Cajun food is ethnic, and located in and amongst the British imported teas and Spotted Dick, Asian foods and sauces, and the best Mexico has to offer. So be sure to check on the ethnic aisle, too.
