We had a nice weekend seeing some family on DH's side. We get together about once a year. We gathered at a cousin's house in Northeast Texas and basically just hung out, got caught up on each other's lives, marvelled at how quickly the children have grown, and of course, ate a lot! (well, not me, but it was there).
My two kids played with their second cousins all weekend, skateboarding, riding on a 4-wheeler, putting puzzles together, shooting skeet, fishing, looking for coyotes at dusk, and we even had a bonfire. We never got around to making s'mores, but I don't think anyone missed it. The use of cell phones and laptops was minimal, which was a nice break. The gals did a little shopping at some unique home accessory stores and checked on the progress of the revamping of the downtown area of the town. It was very nice, and of course beautiful, all decorated for Christmas. It made you want to linger.
We got home late Sunday afternoon, just in time to recover for school and work this morning. DD wound up developing a sinus infection, so I took her to the doctor before school to get her going on antibiotics. She has her Winter Concert Tuesday night, and doesn't need to be coughing and hacking during that!
