Whazzzzup?

Wow, I can't believe it's been over a week since I last blogged! Where has the time gone? Ticking away, I suppose, ready or not....

We had a nice surprise this week. Our friends son, and friend, stopped and visited on his way back home from a summer internship. We had the best time. The boys fished a little, cleaned fishing reels a lot, and ate whatever I put in front of them. It was nice to see "old home folks" again. We miss you already, H! And so does the weenie dog. :)

We went to pick up my daughter's schedule for 7th grade yesterday, but she was in a group for whom the computer crashed and did not print specifics. We met three of her teachers, picked up her personalized athletics uniforms, and paid some lunch money. We will have to go back today to get the detailed schedule.

However, I may have to pull the D-card, also known as the ace up my sleeve, to get her schedule changed. She is in 4 pre-advanced placement classes, and chose Creative Writing as an elective. As an alternate elective, in case CW was full, she put Reading Explorations. Well, over the summer, they decided to add an 8th period to the day, and plugged her into Reading Explorations. So that means in an 8-period day, 4 of them will be Language Arts-related. That is just too much! There was a deadline of May 4 or something ridiculous to get schedules changed, but we missed that by one day, and they refused. It wasn't until we met a possible Language Arts teacher yesterday who raised some concerns that I decided to take action. I had forgotten about the Creative Writing class. We'll see if we can't get her into a different elective from Reading Explorations that might use the other side of her brain!

We go late this afternoon to meet my son's teachers, pick up school supply packets, pay lunch money, and get his locker. He's so excited to not be at a school with kindergartners now, but a school that is only 5th and 6th grades. He is entering 5th grade. No electives yet for him; he will take a few weeks of 3 of them (choir, art, drama) and for 6th grade, can choose one of those, or band, as his elective. I like how the school district kind of "eases" us parents into things! Never mind the kids! LOL
