I've learned a few things...

Watching the two main political parties' conventions these past 2 weeks, and all the "official response" from the other party relating to both events, I've learned a few things lately. Here are some of them:

1. "Pro-choice" is code-speak for pro-abortion. I instinctively knew "pro-life" meant "anti-abortion", because I hold those views. One can be translated into the other. Now I know that pro-choice is only a "positive" way to express some one's support for abortion. Pro-choice no longer means a "woman's right to choose whether to be or not be pregnant." No, clearly the choice is not a choice at all, but only one option: abortion. And if the woman chooses not to abort a pregnancy, chooses life, as Sarah Palin did, knowingly carrying to term a son with Down's syndrome, or Palin's daughter, inconveniently expecting at 17, suddenly they are not supported by the "pro-choice" left. Both women had a choice, but did not choose what leftists say they should have: abortion. And for that, they are ostracized. Maybe I'm naive to not realize this sooner, that pro-choice = pro-abortion. But I know it now, and you cannot convince me otherwise.

2. Rioters and protesters are liberal idiots. There were a few at the Democrat National Convention, but I swear, I think I saw the same morons protesting at the Republican National Convention the next week. I think Denver (DNC) was a practice-run for rioters to really make their mark in St. Paul (RNC. And the Denver rioters, who for the most part were in masks, pretended to be Republicans. The idea is ludicrous. Republicans are too busy working, earning degrees, or raising a family to march carrying a sign. They don't' have time to pick fights with cops in riot gear and spend hours in jail before their mother posts bail.

3. Feminism is not for all women, just some of them. Leading feminist figures of today such as Gloria Steinum and Barbara Boxer have nothing good to say regarding the VP nomination of Sarah Palin. That shows me that women advancing into uncharted territory is only for those who agree with and think like liberal women. They should wear pantsuits, have 1 or less children, be a Democrat, have an angry streak bubbling just under the surface, and be quick to point out how women are oppressed by the system. But let one woman advance to being nominated to Vice President who is not a Democrat, and all of a sudden the feminists will not support her. What happened to equal rights for women? Oh, that's right: she had 5 children with the same man, is happily married to her high school sweetheart, and fights corruption in government. She didn't attend an Ivy League college, to have her feminist skills honed and sharpened, but graduated from a state university. She not only supports Americans owning guns, she knows how to shoot to kill (moose, anyway). And she makes no apologies for wearing make-up, being a former beauty queen, being on the PTA, or being a hockey mom. She doesn't fit the mold. In reality, I think liberals are scared to death the first woman working as Vice President will be a Republican, not a Democrat. Because we all should know by now only Democrats have the best interests of any minority at heart, including women.

My eyes have been opened this week. And not by any spin doctors trying to tell me the Barokolypse was a gift granted to me by God. My own common sense, once again, has prevailed. I see things much more clearly now, and I really, really don't like what I'm seeing. So I did what any self-respecting anti-abortion, no-time-to-protest, non-feminist woman who has been paying attention would do. I woke up Thursday morning and sent a campaign donation to the McCain-Palin campaign.

(And yes, I wrote this. I did not get it in an email forward.)
