Sorry to have been away the past few days. This has been one of those go-go-go weeks where only now could I sit down and take a deep breath and relax. Honestly, I can't recall much of what kept me busy, either, but I do recall doctors and dentists appointments, field trips, Cub Scouts, piano lessons and a cutest pet contest in there somewhere.

Friday, I was a chaperon for my daughter's choir when they participated in the "Pride of Texas" music festival. It was held at a bowling alley/arcade/laser tag center. Think Chuck E. Cheese's for preteens. Anyway, after they performed for the judges, they were free to bowl, play laser tag, and hang out in the arcade. I'm proud to say they scored a Superior, which is the highest ranking possible. Their teacher has worked very hard with them for a wide variety of songs. They sang a song called "Firefly", then "Joshua (Fought the Battle of Jericho)", and ended with "California Dreaming." They sang parts (harmony and melody) for all 3 songs, and sounded just wonderful. My daughter can't wait to start choir next year at middle school, and even my son is anxious to get into choir when he hits 6th grade. They both have pretty good voices, so they should do well with that creative outlet.

In other news, my Mother's Day gifts are all installed now! I got rid of a broken dishwasher, and got a new one with a stainless finish. Then, the white porcelain sink looked so bad next to the new dishwasher, I got a new stainless sink and faucet, along with a3/4 HP garbage disposal. I'm walking in high cotton, that's for sure! It's funny how when you're an adult, what items get you the most excited. I don't' really care about the latest cars or music, but give me a brand new dishwasher that cleans well AND looks modern and I'll follow you around like a puppy. I've decided the kitchen looks bigger now. Instead of a big white panel in an amongst my medium oak cabinets, now I have a darker stainless, and it just looks bigger. The white is not there to break up the space. Same with the sink. Now it's a smooth brushed stainless, rather than a worn out, scratched-up white porcelain jobbie. The faucet I picked is a brushed nickel finish with a goose neck that I can get large pots under, and even came with a hand soap dispenser. I'm vaklempt!
