My daughter has been sick. She missed Wed, Thurs, and Fri of school last week w/ pneumonia and bronchitis. She would up on all 4 different medications to knock it out, plus a cortisone shot in the doctor's office. One of the medications was a Z-pack of antibiotics, arythromycin (I think).

So she went back to school Monday of this week, and Tuesday. Today, she woke up with what we thought were little bug bites all over her, itching like crazy. I couldn't imagine what it could be, as they didn't look like ant, flea, or mosquito bites. So I gave her some Benedryl cream for it and took her to school. I received a call from the school nurse saying her itching and rash were worse. I went to the school, and sure enough, whelps like hives were all over her face, neck, arms, legs, and abdomen.

I put a call in to her doctor to see if this could be an allergic reaction to any of the meds he put her on, mainly the antibiotic. I'm still waiting on a call back. She just woke up from a 2-hour nap brought on by the Benedryl capsules I gave her when we got home. They did call to confirm that her chest x-ray from a week ago was indeed pneumonia and that she was on the right medications to treat it.

So, I'm home with her home again today. I knew if I gave her Benedryl at school she'd just fall asleep. May as well be at home for that! Hoping for a speedy recovery from both ailments now!
