Today is post-op day 5, and I must admit I am surprised at how good I feel. I got a little tired last night, and was hurting, so took my pain meds and went to sleep. I don't think I stirred all night! But I woke up today feeling much better after a good night's sleep. The children were home from school yesterday for Columbus Day, and they were quite a big help, fetching me things I needed and getting supper started for DH. DH took them to school today, and will pick them up, too, while I take it easy. I don't want to overdo it to where I'm miserable come bedtime.
Eating is a new obstacle every day. I am sick of liquids and semi-liquids, and am ready to sink my teeth into some meat, however little it may be! But I'll wait another week or so. I guess that's why mashed potatoes w/ chicken gravy tastes so good to me! I will need to drink small sips of water or other liquid all day long to meet fluid requirements, but stop 30 min before and 30 min after meals. That is going to be tougher than I thought. I find myself watching the clock more. I'm sure it will all fall into place as time goes by, as old habits are replaced by new ones. I'm still not yet a week into this!
It's a cool, fall morning here. I doubt it will last, but it's nice to open the door and not have heat blast you in the face!
