Picture this... 4 sacks of flour on your counter, weighing 5 pounds each. Now picture a couple cans or green beans beside them. THAT is how much weight I have lost in my first 2 weeks after surgery: 22 lbs! I am grinning from ear to ear.
I can't believe it took me this long to allow the idea of weight loss surgery (WLS) to enter my radar field! I'm not going to say the first 2 weeks have been easy or pain-free; they have not. At some point, it was the only thing that made sense for me.
My doctor said I'm doing great. The incisions look good, and he is pleased with how they are healing. He did say I am allergic to the DermaBond, and that it has caused redness and itching. This is some type of superglue for skin that prevents having stitch or staple marks in the skin. It's worn off now. They still put stitches that dissolve under the skin, but for aesthetics, he said DermaBond has become very widely used, and told me to remember to tell medical staff in the future that I'm one of the rare ones allergic to it.
He also took me off of my prescription cholesterol-lowering medication and my high blood pressure medication! He said that 2 other post-surgery meds I was on can be stopped. Y'all, that is 4 Rx medications I no longer have to buy monthly and take daily! I am so jazzed. I also move from a liquid to a soft diet today. No seeds or skins, no red pepper or caffeine.
So the sun is shining, birds are singing, and my whole life of health is ahead of me. Life is good. And getting better.
