I'm home!

I got home from the hospital today at about 1:00 PM. Surgery went well, the surgeon said it was a textbook case, no surprises, and uneventful. That means all the prayer warriors on my side were busy praying for me, and I sure appreciate it.

I got only a few winks last night. About the time I'd doze off, someone would come in, flip on lights, and draw blood, do breathing treatments, check vital signs... someone even came in to make sure I had a garbage can! So I got up out of the bed abotu 3:30 AM, and rolled my IV pole around with me and took a walk around the nurses' station. I met a guy who had a liver transplant 2 mos. ago.. He was there for possible rejection, but apparently they can correct that with meds when caught early. I also met a young woman who was there with her father. He was awaiting a kidney transplant, they'd called him in and said they had a match for him at another local hospital. What was odd, is this woman had already donated one of her kidneys to her mother! Imagine both of parents sick with kidney failure.

I'm pretty sore. I have liquid pain medicine to take for the next week or so, and I'm to take it every 4-6 hours. So far, we've not gotten past 4 hours. I feel like I've done 2000 sit-ups in rapid succession. Just a dull pain all over m y abdomen that worsen then lessens with pain meds. The paint doesn't completely go away, though. They also had a little tube in the "main cut" that was delivering some kind of numbing medication. Now that it's gone, I'm realizing how good that stuff was.

But I woke up this morning, feeling the happiest I've felt in a year or so. I'm looking forward to my future a a normal-weight person. I'm actually looking forward to doing some light exercise once the pain stops. I know exercise will help me, lose fat and gain muscle, and now it doesn't seem so pointless.

I just wanted to give you all an update! God has been so faithful to me! And now I'm going to get back in the bed!
