Duh!

I'd been seeing ads on TV for the clearance store Tuesday Morning. This is a store that sells close-out and clearance items at a fair discount. Their mode of business is they open for a few weeks, then closes doors for a couple weeks to restock. They then reopens on a certain Tuesday morning at 8 AM. Well, yesterday, it was reopening at 8 AM with some nice looking cooking supplies. Since I'm on the hunt for a particular Le Crueset pot and I refuse to pay retail, I figured I would go THIS morning at 8 AM to see what I could find.

I get there, and it looks kind of dim inside; some lights are on, some are off. But I hear the overhead music through the doors. So I figured that since it was 8:02 AM, the employees lost track of time and just forgot to turn on all the lights at 8:00 sharp. So I open the door and walk in. I hear a slow beep beep beep, and figure the door is beeping because it is open, to let employees know someone has entered. So I let it close behind me, and start calling "Hello? Good morning!" as I begin to walk in. Then I notice the beeping of the door has gotten faster, and didn't stop when the door shut. About that time, I'm struck with reality. It all makes sense. The store is closed, the alarm is on, and someone forgot to lock the door last night. I have just set off the burglar alarm, and there I was standing in the middle of a store that was closed! So I hurry and go back out of the door and shut it. Next thing I hear are sirens start inside the store and outside in the parking lot. My first instinct was to run away from there, fast. Then I remember I'd done nothing wrong. But I had visions of seeing my face on fuzzy security camera footage, plastered on the evening news tonight, announcing that authorities were on the hunt for a woman who tried to burglarize Tuesday Morning on Wednesday morning, later seen speeding away from the parking lot, and to assume she is armed and dangerous. Well, by then I was feeling really stupid, realizing that all the beeping and lights being off didn't give me a clue to check the sign proclaiming store hours.

So I take out my cell phone and call 911. I tell the operator that I just tried to shop at Tuesday Morning at 8 AM, but apparently they only open at 8 AM on a certain Tuesday, and that since someone forgot to lock the door, I walked in and set off the alarm. I told her I didn't want to be accused of theft, if later someone came in behind me and cleaned the place out, and they had my picture on a security camera. So she took my name and phone number and said she would keep it in case an alarm company called to report a burglary at Tuesday Morning. She would know I called first.

So that's how my day started out, this cool, fall-like Wednesday morning. It can only get better from here on out!

Hope you get to go back to Tuesday Morning when they are open!!
